Greetings, I hope this post finds you well.
Though I’ve always enjoyed reading novels, I admit I’e never been a prolific reader. This is something I’ve tried to adapt over the years but I admit I’m not there yet. While I read plenty of articles on social media, doing so always includes the chance of being distracted by other items that appear along side it, or even elsewhere on your computer or mobile device. So, in terms of books (paperback or hardcopy), they are always non-distracting with respect to the above mentions. That said, I found, what I tend to call a “no lies detected” commentary on the this blogpost topic by Chuck D of the hip-hop group Public Enemy. Here he is on a segment of “Drink Champs”.
Chuck D talking about reading books vs reading them online
What he says resonates with me, not only because there is a great deal of truth to it, but I try to look for topical matter in hard copy book format because of its immediacy and non-distractive nature, aside from the tactile aspect of turning pages, making notes on the page sides, and only needing a source of light to read. I’ve similarly been a fan of physical magazines all my life, except for two differences: 1) ads and 2) the “continued on pg xx”…have you other forgot the last thing your by the time you have to continue on pg xx? LOL
I’m in the midst of choosing what my next novel will be…
Peace unto you, oceans of rhythm…
Fresh!
